After a stormy week it was nice to see the sun again, even nicer to see the sunset.

School Daze

Talk about culture shock. Caleb is attending Kapiti College ( High Schools are called colleges over here). And guess what, he gets to wear a uniform!! Do I hear you all laugh? He looks so thrilled doesn't he??

Temple Trip

Caleb and Jared recently went up with the youth of our Branch to the Temple in Hamilton to do Baptisms. It's about a 6 hour drive and they stayed overnight at the old LDS boarding school. The school is closed down and is now an MTC. Anyway, they had a blast!

The New Zealand Visitor's Center has one of the seven Christus statues. I believe the others are located in Salt Lake, L.A,  Hawaii, Mexico City, Washington D.C. and Mesa AZ.

The temple in Hamilton is on a small hill and at night you can see it from miles away. Beautiful!

Grooooovy Baby!

My little brother and his wife turned 40 this year and decided to throw a birthday bash and invite friends and family. To celebrate the year of their birth, they went with a 1960's theme. Peter and I attempted a Sonny and Cher lookalike, but I didn't really manage to compile a Cher outfit so went with more of a beehive/go go look. Pete actually got to have hair for the night! And I got to wear this huge long haired beehive wig. I was amazed at how much people got into the spirit of the evening and the effort they put into their costumes. I barely recognized my own family that night as they were transformed into hippies, James Bond, teeny bopper rock and rollers, some very lovely chic/mod looking 60's models! It was a lot of fun. Pete's mustache lasted about half an hour as it was driving him crazy and my feet were killing me by the end of the night - I don't know how women manage to wear super high heels all day long.

I really don't like photos of myself so don't expect to see many on here, but these are kinda funny so I guess I'll post them.

Downunder

I'm venturing into the world of blogging. Rachael is an old pro at this stuff and has helped me a LOT! Check out her blog as she is way better than me at keeping hers up to date.

Well we're in New Zealand! Aotearoa, land of the Long White Cloud. We live about a minute's walk away from the beach. Of course it is the middle of winter here, so we don't exactly go and work on our tans. But we do enjoy taking long walks on the beach, collecting shells and just generally goofing around.  

June 21 was midwinter's day and to celebrate it the boys took a very chilly midwinter's swim. It was a fine day, but cold and windy. Check out the video!
