Springtime in the Park

There's a park in the middle of downtown Christchurch that we walk around several times a week. It's a 6km walk around the whole park and at this time of year, in the Springtime - it is just de- (wait for it) lightful - delightful! So prepare for picture over load!

Beautiful Blossoms

Springtime flowers everywhere

Tranquil waterways

Picturesque Bridges

And what says Spring time more than fluffy ducklings!

A Deck of Love

Father's Day is on the first Sunday in September here in NZ. Thanks to Pinterest and this site, we made Pete a book from a deck of cards and each of us added reasons why we loved him.

Of course Rachael and I put sweet, loving things such as " I love how hard you work" or cute, funny things such as"I love how you can fall asleep anywhere such as the bank or the dentist!" (sorry for the blurry pic)

The boys on the other hand took the opportunity to put down gems such as this:

or "I love that you can't see your toes!"
They really do love their Dad, and Pete thought their comments were hilarious.
The boys definitely inherited their father's sense of humour.

Winter Wonderland

For the second time in two weeks since moving down to Christchurch, we have had a big snow storm. And we wake up to this winter wonderland...

Of course it also means that we are snowed in for a few days! The car and roads are covered in snow, and living on a steep hill, means it's not safe to drive until the roads are cleared.

But this time Rachael and I put on some warm clothes and made a snowman. Of course he's not just any old snowman, he's a Down Under Snowman - who does tricks!

Unfortunately, his tricks got the best of him and soon after we came inside - he fell over!
Poor Snowman. Maybe tomorrow we'll go outside and make him again - right side up this time.

End of Summer Jam

One of the signs that summer is coming to an end is blackberry season! We have a ton of wild blackberries growing in the fields and tracks behind our house.

So these.....

Become this.

Yummmmmm!

I saw these ideas on other blogs and so made my own in time for Valentine's Day.

New Beginnings

We have our Young Women New Beginnings this week and I have been looking around for something to give the girls with this year's mutual theme on it (which is the 13th Article of Faith). I found this on sugardoodle.net.
And I have discovered that if you copy something on a laser printer you can modpodge it and the ink won't run like it does if you print it on an ink jet printer. Eureka! So here is my version on a 6x6 wall tile.

I'm excited to give them to the girls!

Friends and Neighbour Gifts

I had a lot of fun making the washer necklaces, so I was excited to see these on another blog.

So here are the little gifts I am giving to friends and neighbours this year, using my metal stamp alphabet, washers, wire, a jingle bell and ribbon.
